Milestones and Magnificent Jewels

It was a milestone week for me as The Diamond Press expanded with the publication of the inaugural Diamond Executive Report, the launch of the Diamond Executive Club, and the introduction of the Global Diamond & Jewelry Tracker.

I realize it may seem like a lot at first glance, but the three offerings are part of a broader structure and content strategy that I’ve given considerable thought to. I'd love to hear your feedback.
While the Geneva auctions will draw much of the attention this week, a less glamorous but arguably more consequential event is taking place in Mumbai, where the Kimberley Process intersessional meeting gets underway. There was a sense of frustration at the close of the November plenary after the World Diamond Council failed in its effort to update the definition of conflict diamonds, almost as though momentum behind the initiative had stalled.
No doubt it will be brought up again, along with other governance, monitoring and compliance issues that need addressing, including the digitization of KP certificates. So it will be interesting to see what the main issues will be this time, with the KP under India’s chairmanship and new leadership at the WDC.
